6 Gallon Per Minute (PLC Version)
SPECIFICATION FOR STORED DIESEL FUEL QUALITY MAINTENANCE SYSTEM - 6-GALLON PER MINUTE (PLC VERSION)
This section specifies the diesel fuel quality maintenance equipment for standby diesel powered generator sets that operate in a critical environment and must be available when needed.
System shall be installed on a concrete floor or pad convenient to a dedicated 20 Amp 115VAC power source to allow for plug-in or hard wire power connection.
Diesel fuel supply and return piping from bulk storage tank to quality maintenance system are to be separate from piping for diesel engine and day tank. Supply or pick up line from bulk storage tank is to be at bottom of tank on one end, and return line is to be at top of tank on opposite end. The quality maintenance system inlet shall not be more than 18 feet above the bottom of the bulk stored diesel fuel container.
System supply and return lines are to be 1" black iron. Reducers, elbows, or other piping restrictions are to be avoided where possible. The quality maintenance system shall be located as close as possible to the bulk storage tank.
The quality maintenance system will consist of a metal framed cabinet with hinged lid for ease of element replacement and a hinged front door to facilitate servicing. Contained within the cabinet will be a filtration module offering a centrifuge action, coalescing plate and one replaceable filter element. The unit shall have a positive displacement pump powered by a heavy duty, totally enclosed, fan cooled motor capable of continuous operation.
Installation instructions and drawings showing outside dimensions of metal cabinet, diesel fuel inlet and outlet pipe locations, water drain outlet pipe, and location/length of electrical cord shall be supplied by the manufacturer.
THE QUALITY MAINTENANCE SYSTEM SHALL INCLUDE AS A MINIMUM:
MAIN DISCONNECT SWITCH - This switch connects power to the system.
MAIN FUSE - Provides short circuit protection for the unit.
MOTOR CIRCUIT BREAKERS - Provides motor circuit protection.
TOUCH-SCREEN OPERATOR INTERFACE/CONTROLLER - Timing, control function and alarms.
POWER SUPPLY - Provides 24 volts DC for control circuitry.
ELECTRICAL ENCLOSURES - NEMA 4 rated liquid tight enclosures.
AUTOMATIC WATER DRAIN - A separate positive displacement pump and motor with associated sensors and controls to remove accumulated water from bottom of filtration canister and to pump the water to a holding tank.
PETCOCK VALVE - To relieve vacuum from filtration canister when replacing filters.
OFF-ON SWITCH - To enable system operation.
POWER ON PILOT LAMP - To indicate that the system is supplied with electrical power.
CONTAINMENT BASIN - With float sensor switch.
ALARMS - Audible alarm to alert personnel.
- Filter Change is Required
- Drain Pump Ran but Did Not Drain. **CLOGGED?**
- Waste Water Drum is Full. **Please Empty**
- Flood Alert !!!
- Low Vacuum àµp not running?
- High Water Level in Canister
- Main Pump Tripped or Overload
- Drain Pump Tripped or Overload
PAINT COLORS - The frame, mounts, and filtration module should be painted Green; all panels and lid to be painted White.
DIMENSIONS - Viewed from control panel the cabinet shall be no more than 24" wide, 32" deep and 48" in height.
THE QUALITY MAINTENANCE SYSTEM SHALL INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING FEATURES:
MANUAL DRAIN - The system shall be provided with a manual drain valve to be used for draining the canister.
ALARMS EXTERNAL INTERFACE - A terminal strip shall be provided for normally open â¹” contacts that indicate the following conditions by contact closures:
- Waste Drum Full
- Change Filter
- Unit Fault
LITERATURE - Two copies each of the operating instructions, diagnostics, and parts list should be provided by manufacturer.
MANUFACTURER - Shall be Fuel Purification, LLC, 1603 Ownby Lane, Richmond, Virginia, 23220, USA. Telephone (804) 358-0125 Fax 804- 358-4200 All primary functional components to be manufactured by Fuel Purification, LLC
CAPACITY - The system shall have the capacity to make two complete changes of bulk stored diesel fuel per week of tanks ranging from 500 to 60,000 gallons in size.
Installation: the quality maintenance system should be received, stored, installed and started up by _____________________ (name of local mechanical contractor).
